Even before moving here, every time my (Sarah) family would come to visit Durango, Colorado, the Red Cliffs were my absolute favorite views! There is something about the rich, beautiful red color of the rocks - contrasting with the texture and deep greens of the trees and the deep blues of the Colorado sky... it's gorgeous. And then throw some snow into that mix, and it seems to be the most beautiful, ever-changing view.
The home we purchased last year (and put loads of time, energy, frustration, and $ into to get it back to its glory) just happens to have floor to ceiling windows in the great room - overlooking those beautiful Durango Red Cliffs. We never in a million years thought we'd have this view in our first Durango home. (That view is what pushed us to buy this property... and what made us fight so darn hard for making this house work.) Every day I feel blessed to get to look at these views.
So - when it came time to do my own family portraits last Fall, a view of the Durango Red Cliffs was a must for me. And I just adore how they turned out. (And like every family photo day seems to go for us Mamas, it was a plead to my kids and hubby, "Just give me 30-minutes, do what I ask, and it'll all be over and Mama will be so happy!") :) I wish it was that simple... it wasn't. BUT - it WAS definitely worth it.
Special thanks to my friend Savannah who stepped in to shoot any of the images that I am in.
Also - be sure to get all the way to the bottom to see how the session "REALLY" went. :)
How the session REALLY went...
These "outtakes" are great for showing how the session "really" went. :)
